now and then

This is my second visit to Odegaard ever. This floating floor filled with computers is somewhat disconcerting, yet I like it. Last night I had to go to OUGL to finish my paper. I was surprised by the number of people using the lab late into the night.

I couldn't bring myself to stay at the office all night. I had to watch the not-so-dramatic conclusion of the x-files. I finished the paper and most of the slides late last night and skipped a class this morning to finalize everything in time.

The presentation aspect went okay. I lose all track of time whenever I have to do public speaking. I kept having random moments of panic, worrying that I was running out of things to say. Which was strange. Usually I don't mind.

After class, I brought my dead computer to BestBuy to be repaired. I feel like I should just buy something else as a back up.

you and that stupid computer! please, please, please demand a replacement. this is just absolutely, completely ridiculous.

i'm glad you got your paper done, though.

no kidding.

when I bought it, i got the service plan so at least i'm not paying to have it replaced. their "no lemon" policy is more like a "no rotten lemon swarming1 with maggots" policy. they replace it on its fourth breakdown.

i'm such a victim.

(1) I know this probably isn't the right word for
maggot behavior.
uh ... how many times has it broken down now?

yeah. i think this is at least the third time. i keep forgetting that this isn't a normal experience.

the best part: i called this weekend to find out what was going on with the repairs. the guy told me that the computer was on its way back to the store. except -- he didn't think the problem was fixed because they couldn't find the serial number.

i am really looking forward to yelling at counterpeople.

were there any giant computer labs at MSU? I'm totally blanking.
