I guess you're right. It's just weird that they're providing the soundtrack for an advertisement for something of a luxury brand.
aha -- but it's a jaguar with wireless, bluetooth (or wireless bluetooth), and dvd-based navigation. so they're going for the techy.
Yeah... but it's nice to get money. I bet they use the money they get from the advertising to pay for future band projects. Production costs are expensive and maybe they don't want to sign onto a controlling record label to be able to pay for them.
I have nothing agains them making money, I was really just surprised since I didn't imagine that the band and the car's demographics overlapped. But maybe that's what makes it genius?

Yeah really. Before you know it, Spike Jonze will probably start directing commercials.
They don't, and that's what marketing is all about. It's about balding, mid-life-crisis dudes seeing the ad and thinking "wow, if I buy this car, maybe I'll be as hip as the 20-something kids who listen to this music."
But what if their target market is actually the hip 20-something kids with disposable income?
Do you know a 20-something (rich or otherwise) who owns (or would even consider owning) a Jag?

But these days, 40 is the new 30, that's also something to consider as well as their market in other countries.
