the big wave

On Friday night Carolyn, Kate, Jon, and I went to the Showbox to hear Ben Gibbard, James Mercer, and Dave Bazan (of Death Cab for Cutie, the Shins, and Pedro the Lion, respectively) play a benefit show for Northwest Medical Teams to support their efforts in tsunami relief.

Someone else took better pictures than me (a.k.a. they were not far away and blurry); so I'm linking to hers so that you can see Ben Gibbard with shaggy hair and a beard wearing a seasonal sweater. Which was completely appropriate since it was freezing inside. I suspect that the management turned off the heat to mimimize losses in donating all of the money to charity.

Another person that I don't know posted a thorough review and setlist [brianteutsch] if you're interested in that sort of thing. It was a pretty darn good show.

(A side benefit of this livejournal being down is that all of the work of putting these things on the internet is done by someone else.)

I read a bit about that show in the Stranger. I'm sad I missed it. I've been trying to convince people for a long time that christmas and/or ugly sweaters are going to be the height of cool any day now. I'm glad Ben Gibbard is helping to further this new trend.
You'll see that Mr. Pedro the Lion was also rocking quite a sweater at that show, too.

It's only a matter of time!
haha, now flickr is down.

(there's was scheduled though)
It really is like "like the internets own 9/11 or something." [lj_maintenance].

don't know what to say about that

but i would like to know what this deleted post said
I missed out on that one.. I ended up going to the free show at Chop Suey with U.S.E. and a ton (seriously like 8 others) of other bands.
