disclaimer / mission statement

[last revision: 12 November 2007] (as well as the rest of the empire) is a personal weblog that is a mostly accurate account of my life. In addition to the "activities of daily living" component, it is also likely to contain a combination of links, commentary, and opinion.

When I post text from other places, I will do my best to attribute it to the correct source through a hyperlink or with a somewhat standard citation. The content of the links is not my responsibility, but I generally think they're interesting. Information on this site may contain errors or inaccuracies; I don't make warranty as to the correctness or reliability of the site's content, but I will try to get things right as often as possible. If I hang out with you, I am likely to mention your name in my journal. If you'd prefer to be referenced in a "names changed to protect the identities" category, please tell me. You can even suggest an alias.

I am an epidemiologist working in Seattle. I am not paid by anyone to write this. However, as something of an experiment, I signed up for affiliate programs with Defunker, Threadless, and BustedTees that pay a small amount of money or store credit for referred sales. If you're interested in hiring me to write something or take photographs for you, I'd certainly entertain the possibility (and would then disclose it as a source of income).
