Somehow, in the course of my overwhelmingly sedentary life, I've managed to hurt my leg. I mean, I probably walk a couple miles going to and from work, but still. This is unexpected. Maybe I need to have an ergonomic evaluation. Or maybe I should just sit properly. For now, I'm Alleveing.

On the way to work today I found a rug on sale at Urban Outfitters that is now on my bedroom floor. Seeing it there really makes me happy. Strange, but true.

I tried to cancel most of my cable today, but the guy on the phone offered me a way to keep HBO without all of the other worthless digital channels; so I caved and am not saving much money. Maybe I'll try again next week. I wish that there was a way that I could pay for just HBO, Comedy Central (or just the Daily Show), the networks, and maybe CNN and MTV, but apparently this technology is not yet available. It's not like I'm asking for a flying car.

After the techfee meeting (1st round over, almost out of money!) I met Carolyn at Solstice (I gave up on the espresso free week for a mocha) to plan a happy hour for prospective students. We walked the Ave and decided that the place that best fit our matrix of reservable, close, casual (allowing people to comfortably arrive late/leave early), and not depressing was Finn MacCool's. It's kind of funny that we walked ~ 10 blocks to find a place that was across the street, but the weather turned out great (and I didn't bring my camera to campus because of the overcast afternoon skies. but really, do I need any more pictures of cherry blossoms?).

Also noticed: it seems like graffiti is on the rise in town, evening sunlight is back, Rilo Kiley might be emo-country.

I went to the basic - basic package (76-99, 2-28) and let me tell you.. I've never missed Comedy Central so much... although I find myself watching television significantly less... which is a good thing.

I think I'll eventually need to go back to basics. I watch a maximum of two hours of Comedy Central per week if I watch all four episodes of the Daily Show. I haven't really gotten into any of their other programming; so it should make the transition less painful.
i have free digital cable right now, and i love it, other than the fact that i never watch t.v. most of everything i watch i tape b/c i'm not home during the week, and then watch it on the weekends. but . . . i would be really sad when they take it away. i really, really think it's got to happen though, because i can't afford the extra $20 a month. the one thing that if i could afford i would love is the dvr. then i could just digitally record everything and life would be much easier. ah well.

the whole point of this comment was to tell you that i agree, i think we should be able to pay for cable a la carte. stupid cable monster monsters.
are you saying that your entire cable bill is $20? Or that the digital add-ons are $20? Because $20 cable would be a great deal.

When I sort of cancelled my cable, the guy on the phone told me that "on demand" was now available with my system. It's incredible. For instance, I can watch many of the HBO shows or movies whenever I want to for no additional charge. You can also use it to order rental movies. It's kind of like TiVo or DVR. Pause, fast-forward, etc. through the digital cable box.

This suggests that thte a la carte future of cable may be getting closer.
no, it's $20 more when the special runs out if I want to keep digital rather than go back to standard. I also have icontrol but haven't used it. do you have to pay for it extra each time you use it?
no, not for HBO shows & movies (provided that you get HBO). You can rent movies though, which are ~$4. I haven't done that since I can't even keep up with NetFlix.
Oh. I do get HBO, but don't pay for it. Unless it's included in the deal. I think they just forgot to turn it off.
ahhh... is it the 49.95 chenille? we are fans as well :D
it's in the style of the $49.95 chenille. It's a little smaller, three shades of blue with some green detailing -- it was originally $100 on sale for $30!
