in the air

For non-local readers who didn't know,

It's been snowing on-and-off for the past couple of days here. From giant white flakes yesterday morning to misty snowdust this afternoon, to the traditional snow-globe action outside my window now, it seems like the ground should be blanketed. But this is polite Seattle snow that only seems to hang out for a few hours before melting or washing away, disappearing before it gets dirty. It exists for effect rather than for drifting.

Maybe I'm underestimating. I've mostly been observing through the window from under a blanket in my freezing cold apartment. But from that perspective and during brief walks for errands, it's been simultaneously charming and unsettling.

why doesn't the heat in your apartment work??
Good question. It does work, but the thermostat is set for it to only be on at certain hours of the day. Since normal people are usually working during the day, it isn't on (the heating is set for the whole building). So it's really great to be home sick in a freezing apartment!

Also, the weather in Seattle is unusually cold and I don't think it's set up to compensate. I need to call the landlord to have him adjust the thermostat.
yes, please call the landlord and have him adjust it. i know it's abnormally cold, but it's cold and snowing and being cold in your apartment isn't helping your illness.
