I forgot to mention that David Rees focused most of his reading on My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable. The presentation included a lengthy presentation of how karate is similar to rap battles (rappers rap about who is the best rapper). He also showed some of his eighth grade hand-drawn comics (not pretend 80s comics) which his father produced and purchased. He didn't seem very excited about winning the 2003 Webby for Humor. I guess they aren't sending statues to winners anymore?

As an incentive to stay for the entire reading, he offered photocopies of "Death and injury from landmines and unexploded ordinance in Afghanistan," published in the August 6 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association1. When I got to the front of the signing line, he only had one copy remaining; so I left it for the next person knowing that I could get it online. This little saga is what reminded me to post more about Saturday.

I can think of nothing more depressing/infuriating than landmines, so it's really excellent that all of the author royalties for Get Your War On are donated to Mine Detection & Dog Center Team #5 who clear landmines and unexploded ordnance in Afghanistan.
