On Friday night Carolyn, Kate, Jon, and I went to the Showbox to hear Ben Gibbard, James Mercer, and Dave Bazan (of Death Cab for Cutie, the Shins, and Pedro the Lion, respectively) play a benefit show for Northwest Medical Teams to support their efforts in tsunami relief.
Someone else took better pictures than me (a.k.a. they were not far away and blurry); so I'm linking to hers so that you can see Ben Gibbard with shaggy hair and a beard wearing a seasonal sweater. Which was completely appropriate since it was freezing inside. I suspect that the management turned off the heat to mimimize losses in donating all of the money to charity.
Another person that I don't know posted a thorough review and setlist [brianteutsch] if you're interested in that sort of thing. It was a pretty darn good show.
(A side benefit of this livejournal being down is that all of the work of putting these things on the internet is done by someone else.)
