In yesterday's New York Times Week In Review section:

"Just Who, Really, Is a Birkenstock Voter?" explores the connection between footwear and [politicial, social, etc.] affiliation.

Also mentioned: $250 Birkenstocks and the implication that "Birkenstock doesn't especially qualify as a Birkenstock anymore either."

I went to work, it started raining, I picked up groceries in Fremont. Waiting for the bus, I got a free Death Cab For Cutie poster from Sonic Boom when I told the sales woman that I probably wouldn't be able to make it to the midnight sale due to "early classes".

Back at home, still raining, I watched the Red Sox beat the A's. The final inning was really nerve-wracking, even though I have no stake in the outcome and I'm not a real baseball fan. I guess it's just that I find the idea of a World Series in Wrigley and Fenway really appealing.
