O.K., so yesterday I watched Pumpkin on DVD. And it was pretty mediocre except for the scene (montage?) that was backed by Belle & Sebastian "Stars of Track and Field". It seemed like the scene was written especially for the song, since the song came out before the movie. It could've gone either way, except that time is sort of picky.

And tonight was space rock night at Chop Suey, where my least favorite decoration is the ugly paper (?) dragon hanging above the area where bands usually sell merch[andise]. Of the three bands--Sushi Robo, High Violets, Voyager One--I liked Voyager One the best in terms of music, visual aids, and set length.

Tired now.

From an article about Christie Todd Whitman's resignation:

According to the Associated Press, possible successors to Whitman include David Struhs, Florida Department of Environmental Protection secretary, and Josephine Cooper, president of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. </a>

take me out to the ball game

I went to the office this morning, and spent most of the time there talking to the other students, scheduling a dentist appointment, and figuring out how to reshape a dataset.

By the time I went back to campus for a techfee meeting and a slice of Pagliacci's pizza, the weather had turned summery. From an overcast morning to a HUB lawn teeming with people throwing and catching various objects in under half a day. Not bad.

After the meeting, I trolled the Ave to find a travel guide for Vancouver. My family is arriving in Seattle tomorrow and we're going to Canada on Sunday. I gave up on the used bookstore to get something current. At "we buy books", they were selling a Seattle Style Guide for under $5. It was an early-90s guide to dressing and acting like a true Seattle resident -- lots of quality hints about flannel.

I did a couple of loads of laundry and headed to the bus stop to meet Carole, John, and Rachel for the Mariners game. We got cheap seats, ate lots of junk food, and watched the Mariners beat the Twins. Good times! [ pictures ]

Tomorrow: Sasquatch!
