"06-8020 - please call"
is not a useful text message. i didn't even know that I had text messaging, but still. oh well.
I'm not really sure how my exam went today. I can never tell, I think the point is to assess the ability to read minds. There was little in the way of calculating things and doing tricks with numbers, which was both surprising and a little disappointing.
Eek. I'm going to Michigan in just two days. I should do some official work before going out of town since I've been such a slacker in that department over the past week. Of course, it was for a good cause.
I watched the world cup on tape when I got home from the exam. After all the talk about upsets, it's Brazil and Germany in the finals.
Now there is something on PBS about the Civil War. About every three minutes the narrator mentions that Ulysses Grant was an alcoholic. They regularly mention his limited academic and political skills.
Hmm. I think the point is "overcoming adversity," but I'm not really sure since I haven't been paying attention.
update: I think the point is Grant and his substances. Now it's all about his habit of smoking up to twenty cigars per day. This is just so strange, yet I can't look away.
hard to believe, but the film version of The Unbearable Lightness of Being is less coherent than the book of the same title. It is really long. I noticed that it was on, did some other things, went running, and yet it continues.
I really admire Milan Kundera's ability to come-up with great titles.
