One of my obstacles to competent writing is that I've never really understood the point of time signatures. Intuitively, I know they probably have an important role in music theory, but it seems like you could rewrite anything in any time signature and have it be the same.
The other bands: If you want to see a horrible band that's in love with itself, check out the Flying Helicopters who arrived an hour late and opened for Hella. After a couple of songs from Suffering and the Hideous Thieves, I walked back to Met Park to pick up my things. The building was pretty empty, but it wasn't really creepy at all. I waited a few minutes for my bus, watching its progress on busview.
After listening to the Grandaddy CD from Ellen, I noticed that Charlie Rose was over and Nova was on. It is about using advances in genetics to investigate the Lost Tribes of Israel.
Only partially watching this Nova episode, I saw a huge amount of what I learned for my undergraduate degree summarized in a five minute user-friendly blurb.
