hi.

It's been a ridiculously lazy weekend for me. Today I watched Pete Sampras beat Andre Agassi in the US Open final. To make up for it, I made running motions on an elliptical machine, so it's all good.

If I could have eliminated the commentary, the mens final would have been a very good game to watch, though I almost feel like Sampras should retire on a high note. I really enjoy the presentation of the checks at the end of the match. Do they do that at other grand slam events?

At Wimbeldon they give the trophies (and probably the checks, but are more discrete about that).
My favorite part of Wimbeldon is that the men get a trophy (or cup, I suppose) while the women get a plate. A plate? Really?
Yeah. The plate is pretty tacky. It's for second place in the U.S. Open. I also found the mini courtside interviews broadcast to the audience really awkward.
