hey san franscisco: kidney rock!

rogue wave at bumbershoot
If you'll happen to be in San Francisco at the end of the month, might I recommend pointing your web browser to roguewavemusic.com? There, you can buy tickets for a star-studded benefit concert featuring performances by Rogue Wave, Ben Gibbard, Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), Ryan Miller (Guster), John Vanderslice, Daniel Handler as emcee, and "other special guests". You'll get an evening of great entertainment and Pat (Rogue Wave's incredibly nice, crazy-haired, drummer) will get money for his kidney transplant. Everyone wins.

Now, listen to this Buddy Holly cover and try to not sing along. It's impossible!

Odd that he needs money for a kidney transplant. I was under the impression that Medicare paid for kidney transplants. Hehe, but I'm all for kidney rock. ;)
Interesting question -- I don't know the ins and outs of the financials. Here's a little bit more about the reasons behind the benefit [popwatch].
Looks like he is getting his second kidney transplant too. Perhaps he makes too much money to get Medicare but not enough to pay for the surgery [in which case I'd totally hide my assests and lie]. Sad, I hope it works out for him.
I suspect it's something like that. It would suck if he had to quit the band to not make enough money to qualify for assistance.

I hope things work out for you, too! Maybe you should start a rock band, get famous, and have a benefit show.
