weekend updates: actual weekend

On Saturday I went to the Apple Cup. A friend of a friend had extra tickets; so Carolyn and I met up to watch two teams with losing seasons face off for a bit of state pride. It was my first UW football game and it was a really nice day for being in the stands. The student section was kind of interesting: unlike the old days of MSU football, there's only an assigned section and not assigned seats. This seems like a much better policy and makes things a lot easier.

The game was actually pretty entertaining. The home team put up a decent fight and the momentum seemed to be going in the right direction, but a last minute touchdown killed the UW's chance to avenge WSU's winning of the donation war and the resulting crimson and greyification of the Space Needle.

There were other fun parts, like the live, slightly overweight, mascot that ran the length of the field. They also have a car in the shape of a football helmet that takes a lap whenever the Huskies scored. Miss Washington, Miss Teen Washington, and the Governor may have also been there. Gregoire was wearing both schools' colors, which seems like a cop-out since she's a UW alumna.

I went home and took a nap. I'm a terrible napper; so I woke up feeling disoriented and unmotivated. I bought tickets for Band of Horses and watched a few episodes of Arrested Development.

Today I watched Sunday political shows, worked a little bit, went to the IMA, and did laundry.
