Though I respectfully disagree with many of the calls to stop moping [lj], I am certainly willing to numb the pain with eager anticipation of tonight's brand new episode of the o.c..

Sure, it's sort of like letting the terrorists win, but who needs pills and liquor when there's the anesthetic blue glow of television drama to make things all better.

Last night I numbed myself with a little America's Next Top Model. (Followed by TiVo'd West Wing, which isn't doing much for me these days)
Today I bought shoes.
Tonight I shall numb myself some more.
I'm all for a return to mindless American decadence. The people have spoken and who am I to argue!

Though it's sort of against this trend, I might actually start reading more since the news is likely to be way too depressing (again).

I even made a return to the West Wing last night out of desperation to watch fake government inaction, but it's really still sucking it up).

I've had to tune out the news at least for a little while, because bush's smug face makes me angry.

Somewhere along the way (when sorkin stopped writing) the West Wing stopped giving lessons in how the government works and turned into something like ER. ER is fine for ER, but I really loved the first three seasons of West Wing.
I gave up on the series shortly after Sorkin left, and now just tune in occasionally. After they managed to turn a season opener featuring a transfer of the presidency, a kidnapping rescue, and bombing terror cells into a snoozefest I realized that something was missing.

The first few seasons were brilliant. I do wonder if they're planning to continue the show next year with a whole new administration.
remind me about the season finale . . . for some reason i feel like i missed it. . . seth on some boat or something?
yep. seth sailed off to tahiti after problems with summer (& her dad) after ryan took off for chino to be with his "baby's momma"
Thanks - I just looked at the Episode Guide online to remind myself - I knew I had watched it, just couldn't remember some of the smaller details.
My friend and I have official OC night.
